Even though Judy had the chance to briefly meet the creator of the most
hilarious translation cartoons we've ever seen,
Alejandro Moreno-Ramos, in New York in 2009, she was delighted to hear that they'd have the chance to spend more time together. During a last-minute trip to the U.S. West Coast with his charming wife Hélène, Alejandro decided to stop in Vegas (they live in France).

Judy loves nothing more than having fellow linguists in Vegas and at her house, so she invited them to dinner. Even though they were really tired because of a long trip to the Grand Canyon, they showed up with several presents in tow (so not necessary, but thank you!). Judy is over the moon with her Mox cartoon mug (see picture). They went out to Red Rock, the nearby state park, for an evening drive and then had a lovely dinner at home.

Mox, Mina and a parade of other delightful characters, you are in for a treat. Alejandro is extraordinarily creative and talented. You might remember that he contributed all the cartoons to our
book, which have, not surprisingly, been very popular. He might have some exciting Mox-related news, but we'll let him tell that story.

Many of my friends are fellow translators and interpreters. It is always great to see them and share linguistic revelations and headaches. We understand each other and our quirkiness with languages. In my eyes, we're a special breed. :-)
BTW: I love the mug! That could be a scene from my life.

My wife and I look forward the chance to invite you over for a French dinner. However, we do not live 10 minutes away from Red Rock; it will be difficult to match that :)
To all Judy's admirers: you probably know that Judy is intelligent and charming, an entrepreneurial genius, a half-marathon runner, fully trilingual and many other things, but did you know that she's also a wonderful cook?
@Esther: you are so right. It takes a linguist to understand one. About the mug: we hope that Alejandro will start selling them; looks like there's lot of interest. They'd make a great present, too!
@Alejandro: You are making me blush. :) Thanks for the kind words, and we can't wait for more Mox news. We are so there with the French dinner, but methinks you will be busy with baby girl soon! It was so great to have you guys.
I haven't had the pleasure of hosting fellow linguists at my home, unfortunately, but would love to! It is lovely meeting people one has come to know online through blogs, twitter, etc..
I really enjoy meeting other translators, and hope to meet more in future. I have plans to meet a twitter friend when I move to her neck of the woods later in the year. :-)
As we now know, I also received the famous Mox mug! Sadly mine was broken by the postman. :-( I did enjoy the jigsaw puzzle to discover the cartoon, though!
